Painting a Pane of Glass

window2

We are getting a new window tomorrow. So we thought it might be fun to paint the old one.

setup

We put down a piece of particle board, some acrylic paint and some water (in the yogurt glass and plastic cup.)

Nople the teen timidly started…

She was very uncertain of her little tree. I gave her a word of encouragement and told her windows are a special kind of painting. You have to paint things backwards. If you draw a face you do the eyes and mouth then you color a face on top of it. Or with her tree, you paint the sky after the tree, over the tree.

Then you can look outside and see the tree with a pretty sky.

see the tree?

See the little tree up there? There’s also a little Lou hand. Speaking of which, she was a little less timid when attacking the glass.

And her hands…

And hands on glass…

Nople started getting into it. She’s still not too cool to get dirty.

We washed our water and brush in between each color, it was up to the kids if they wanted to. I was Lou’s water girl. This is messy work.

mess

Very messy. Not for the weak of heart. But it’s worth it. However, next time I will prepare better. Old tee-shirts, more covered area…bandanas on heads.
