Princesses and Warrior Princesses

We have a wonderful group of princesses. I think there are 8 or so princesses in a pack. They are scattered about the house now, but when they were new Lou had a lot of fun playing with them.

Then the other day I was cleaning up some old stuff and came across some dolls of my own. They’ve been in storage, and really aren’t appropriate for a 3 year old. But Lou saw them anyways.

Then the questions began, and they were pretty cool questions. We got to talk about Warrior Princesses. Xena. Then I realized Mulan is a Warrior Princess too. Princess Leia is a Warrior Princess. Scully wears a suit. Aerith rides a huge chicken called a Chocobo.

Lou hasn’t seen any of the princess movies. They are a bit too scary for us at this point. But when she does, I am now leaning towards Mulan. And not the Mulan 2 where she falls in love and gets married.

On a side note, as a former animator Ariel (and her movie) is special. She marks the start of the Disney Renaissance. As far as old school princess movies, the art direction of Sleeping Beauty makes me swoon. Aaaah… Eyvind Earle… and his art today
