![]() While sculpting the other day, Lou asked for a ball of clay. I rolled one. She began shaping it into a triangle. She said she was making a Totoro (A catlike creature from the movie My Neighbor Totoro.) She looked a little deflated that it wasn’t looking like Totoro. I said “Let’s get a picture [...] ![]() Lou, now 3.5 years old, sculpts with me all the time. For some reason I didn’t think Ero, 16 months, would get it. He thought otherwise. He climbed up the step stool and set up shop. He grabbed a little wooden tool, some terracotta and did what came naturally. He jabbed at it, sliced at [...] ![]() This was great. We brought out our trusty Sculpey and some old wire I had laying around. I cut the wire into strange sizes. I pulled apart the Sculpey into smaller pieces for Lou to work with. She went to town. Our shop lets us rent a shelf and [...] ![]() We have this cluttered art drawer in the kitchen. Lou and Ero love to dig through it and bring stuff out to work with. More times than not, Lou reaches for this pile of sculpey. This is what it looked like after Lou sculpted with it for a bit. It was glorious in its own [...] ![]() Lou put her Duplo grass on her chalkboard the other day. I thought it was funny how just putting something on its side created a whole new activity. All of a sudden she’s making a Duplo sculpture relief. Reliefs are a sculpture that is on a flat plane and then parts are raised or lowered [...] ![]() Aunt Nora and Alice were in for a visit this weekend from California, so I ordered some polymer clay for an activity. ![]() I bought one stick of this wax from our local Waldorf school to give it a try. First we held it in our hands to warm it up… ![]() Super Sculpey is awesome. I learned to use it on a claymation thing I worked on a long time ago and continue to use it today for fine art. |
