![]() It’s that time again. Gardening! The kids enjoyed mixing the dirt. They stirred it up in a bucket and then they scooped it into the pots. We put the seeds in and marked what they were. Then Ero took a big handful out right where the seeds were. Then we put it back. Then Ero [...] ![]() I didn’t expect Ero to be able to do the lacing beads. Peter however, doesn’t have a good grasp on when kids are ready to do things, so yesterday he started playing beads with him. Ero seemed to be getting it, at least getting the part where you put a bead on the little stick [...] ![]() I’m not sure if this is the right way to dry out beans, but it works for us. We just leave our beans up on their trellis, or in this case a fence, over winter. They looked dry enough so we grabbed us some beans. And these aren’t just any beans. They are Red Runner [...] ![]() Lou, now 3.5 years old, sculpts with me all the time. For some reason I didn’t think Ero, 16 months, would get it. He thought otherwise. He climbed up the step stool and set up shop. He grabbed a little wooden tool, some terracotta and did what came naturally. He jabbed at it, sliced at [...] ![]() At 16 months Ero wants to pour all the time. If you put two glasses, bowls, containers in front of him with a little bit of liquid he can’t help himself. Above he found some left over glasses on the coffee table and went to town. He then moved them to the window for some [...] ![]() Lou decided she was going to make her own peanut butter and jam sandwich. She got the jam, peanut butter and a small knife. I got a plate down for her (I should move some dishes down low…) She did a great job. Most of the food was in the center, but she didn’t mind. I [...] ![]() Good morning water. Good morning flour. Let’s make a disaster. I read somewhere that to start your child cooking you can give them some flour and water to mix up. I thought “why would I ever do that, we make our own bread!” Well I tried it anyways. Lou loved it. We did it two [...] ![]() I thought I would give pouring a shot with 13 month old Ero. I placed a little creamer and a little glass down on our trusty tray. I put half an inch of water in the pitcher. Ero poured back and forth for over 12 minutes. I kept refilling the pitcher as he ran out [...] ![]() Oma told me to put a crayon in the kids hands as soon as possible. With this in mind I kept giving a crayon to Ero to see when he would actually “draw.” Today was the day. Delicate little scratches…so sweet. Now I must buy him his First Sketchbook. Oh how I love the sketchbook. [...] ![]() Lou put her Duplo grass on her chalkboard the other day. I thought it was funny how just putting something on its side created a whole new activity. All of a sudden she’s making a Duplo sculpture relief. Reliefs are a sculpture that is on a flat plane and then parts are raised or lowered [...] ![]() Lou walked over to the chalkboard with a glass of water and a big paintbrush. She then began to paint the chalkboard. She painted the whole thing and was quite pleased with her activity. Good stuff. |
