![]() Ero likes to help Pete make his coffee in the morning. He didn’t want to stop scooping so Pete took out some beans for him to continue scooping over by the kitchen table. They ended up on the ground. In keeping with “helping a child make amends” I thought this would be a good opportunity [...] ![]() Washing fruit is a great activity that Lou loves to do. It also contributes to the home, which in turn teaches respect and family participation. I brought out our egg tray, which is only used around the holidays, and set it near a colander and turned the water on. Good stuff. ![]() A lot of our flowers are coming in now, and Lou asked to pick some. The Nasturtium is perfect for this. It’s edible for one thing and there are a whole lot of blossoms. We haven’t arranged flowers since early spring. Lou picked a bunch then asked for a vase. I told her she could [...] ![]() Turns out a bucket of ice, some glasses and a pitcher of water made for a great activity and helped out some thirsty gardeners at the same time. Lou put one ice cube in each glass. She was a little put off when Opa asked for a second one. She reluctantly gave him another… We [...] ![]() We found some flowers in the backyard which gave me an idea. On Monday I checked out a Montessori Preschool and learned that they love flower arrangements. ![]() Lou and I have been going to a Waldorf parent/child class. I’ll post a summary after the class is over, but I wanted to mention their cleaning style since I just talked about Montessori rugs and cleaning. ![]() So my uber Montessori neighbor came over yesterday and expanded on how they use these little rugs in the Montessori classroom. ![]() Lou is increasingly interested in helping out. I read somewhere that getting toddlers to do chores is on a volunteer basis. |
